Type of Visa -

Student Visa-
The Immigration and Nationality Act provides two nonimmigrant visa categories for persons wishing to study in the United States. The "F" visa is for academic studies, and the "M" visa is for nonacademic or vocational studies. In order to qualify for a student visa, an alien must meet the following requirements:

Crew Visas
Individual C-1/D visas are issued to crewmembers of international airlines and to aliens required for the normal operation and service of a vessel. In the case of the later, in determining who qualifies for the C-1/D visa, we take into consideration the individual's responsibilities and activities on the ship. For example the most commonly issued C-1/D visas are to crew members of cruise liners and include, but are not limited to, beauticians, entertainers and lifeguards.

Exchange (J) Visas
Persons who will be participating in an exchange visitor program in the U.S. need to apply for an exchange visitor visa at the Consular Section. You need to submit a valid passport, one photograph, your DS-2019 form from the exchange organization and a 2-part bank receipt proving payment. Dependents of J-1 visa holders, except children under 16, need to apply in person for J-2 visas. If you wish to apply for your spouse and children, you must also submit valid proof of the relationship and a valid passport, one photo, and a 2-part bank receipt proving payment.

Document Required -
To apply for a student visa for academic or language study, an alien must have been accepted for the purpose of pursuing a full course of study in an academic institution approved by the Attorney General. The student must present to the consular officer a Form I-20A-B, "Certificate of Eligibility for Non-immigrant (F-1) Student Status for Academic and Language Students," properly completed and signed by the alien and the designated school official.
