Student Visa -
The Immigration and Nationality Act provides two nonimmigrant
visa categories for persons wishing to study in the United States.
The "F" visa is reserved for nonimmigrants wishing to
pursue academic studies and/or language training programs, and the
"M" visa is reserved for nonimmigrants wishing to pursue
nonacademic or vocational studies.
Temporary Work Visa-
Employers who wish to hire foreign workers to temporarily
perform services or labor or to receive training may file an I-129
petition. The I-129 is mainly used for nonimmigrant categories;
thus, in most cases, workers who enter the United States under this
petition must depart the U.S. when their maximum period of stay
has been reached. Form I-129 may also be used to petition for an
extension of stay or change of status for certain nonimmigrants.
Document Required -
evidence of landed immigrant status in Canada, if applicable.
a form DS-156, fully completed and signed.
separate forms must be submitted for each applicant, even if applicants
share a single passport.
an application fee in the amount of US$100 per applicant, paid in
cash if applying in person; or to the U.S. Treasury in the form
of a money order or certified check if applying by mail.
