How to Apply for a Visa
To make a nonimmigrant visa appointment in-country, please call 0900 87 8472 (Monday through Friday, 8.30-17.30, SFR2.50/min). To make a nonimmigrant appointment from within the United States (or any other country) please have your family members, friends or business associates call to set up an appointment. Please note that faxes and e-mails sent to the Embassy requesting appointments will not be accepted. The appointment system is managed by the Call Center only.
As of November 1, Fridays are reserved for Swiss nationals only and Wednesdays are reserved for students, exchange visitors, workers (including journalists) and their dependants.

How can I tell if my Swiss passport is valid for visa-free travel on the Visa Waiver Program (VWP)?
If a Swiss citizen is traveling for up to 90 days for simple business or pleasure and carries an eligible passport, then they are eligible for visa-free travel under the Visa Waiver Program.Complete information on the visa waiver program can be found at http://travel.state.gov or by clicking here. Please read the information carefully to determine if you need a visa for your intended travel, regardless of the type of passport you have.

Photo Requirements for U.S. Passports and U.S. Visas
Please note that applicants for a U.S. passport have to submit two identical photos. Visa applicants have to submit one photo only. The following minimum requirements must be met or your application will not be processed. Please see the paragraphs below for more details.
The photographs must not be older than six months.
The photographs must measure 5 cm x 5 cm.
The photographs of the applicant’s head must be between 2.5 cm and 3.5 cm when measured vertically.
The photographs must have a white background.
The applicant must face the camera directly, with both ears visible.
