Photo Requirements for Visa Processing
In order to safeguard the traveling public and utilize the latest biometric identification techniques, all applicants for American non-immigrant visas must present full-face photographs, taken against a white or off-white background, showing the entire, uncovered head. Applicants who wear a head covering or hat for religious reasons may continue to do so, but only if that head covering does not obscure any portion of the face.
Visa Fees:
The cost of each immigrant visa application processing fee (per person) is (US) $380. Fees must be paid for each intending immigrant regardless of age, and are not refundable. Local currency equivalents are acceptable. Fees should not be sent to the consular office unless requested specifically. The USCIS charges additional fees for filing petitions.
Passport Information
As of August 19, 2002, fees for U.S. passports will increase. The application fee for first-time adult customers will increase to $85.00. Passport for minors under age 16, first-time or renewal, will increase to $70.00. The adult renewal application fee will increase to $55.00.
The U.S. Department of State recently noted that the changes are the result of an independent fee study done to ensure that the true costs of providing consular services to Americans are recovered.
