Visa Details
Immigrant Visas
Embassy Moscow's Immigrant Visa Unit issues visas to Russian nationals
seeking permanent residence in the United States, based on certain
categories of family relationship with U. S. citizens or U.S. permanent
residents, or offers of employment. A significant part of that workload
involves orphans adopted by American citizens. U.S. citizens interested
in adopting a child are encouraged to contact their State Department
of Health and Human Services to locate an agency that specializes
in international adoptions and/or the U.S. Department of State's
Office of Children's Issues for further information.
Type of Visa -
Temporary Business or Tourism (B)
For those persons going to the U.S. on tourism, please indicate
where you will be staying. If you are visiting friends, please feel
free to bring correspondence or letters of invitation from them.
Student Visas (F, M)
Those wishing to study in the United States must include with the
visa application the Form I-20 and evidence of funding for the first
year's studies. The Form I-20 is provided by the United States institution
after a foreign student has been accepted.
Exchange Visas (J)
The United States government and many private organizations sponsor
a wide variety of exchange programs. These include academic and
cultural exchanges, as well as au pair programs and summer work
and travel programs.
Document Required -
Application Forms and Photo Standards
All non-immigrant visa applicants must submit a completed copy of
the DS-156 form. In addition to the DS-156, men aged from 16 to
45 must also complete DS-157.
Valid Passport
A valid passport must be submitted along with the visa application
and must contain at least one blank page on which to affix a visa.
Fee -
Visa Fees
The application fee for a U.S. nonimmigrant visa is $100, payable
in cash in Russian rubles. This application fee is non-refundable.
This fee should be submitted to Pony Express at the time the application
is turned in for delivery to the Embassy.
