General Information
Non-immigrant visas are visas that are issued to people visiting the United States for work, pleasure, studying, or transit. Generally, visa applicants must apply for a visa in the Consular District in which they legally reside. At the Consulate in Hamilton, applications are normally only accepted from legal residents of Bermuda.

Visas are a privilege, not a right. In order to be granted a non-immigrant visa, applicants must overcome the presumption in Section 214b of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) that all visa applicants are intending immigrants.

Fees
The cost of each formal immigrant visa application is $335.00 plus a $45 security enhancement surcharge for a total of $380 per person, payable by cash or credit card. Fees must be paid by, or on behalf of, each intending immigrant regardless of age, and are non-refundable and should not be sent to the Consulate unless specifically requested. There is an additional filing fee of $355.00 per petition.

Passport Information
General Information
Effective April 8, 2002, American citizens residing or traveling abroad who require issuance of a U.S. passport will be issued the latest, state-of-the-art passport incorporating a photo-digitized image and other enhanced security features. U.S. Embassies and Consulates will achieve this goal by transferring the passport issuance function to a domestic U.S. passport facility. This will increase processing times at some U.S. Embassies and Consulates, and American citizens are encouraged to apply early for renewal of expiring passports.

Important: The Consulate must send the passports overseas for processing; therefore, processing may take up to two weeks before the passports return to Bermuda.
