Visa Procedures for Students

In an effort to facilitate the travel of all visitors, the Consular Section has established an online appointment system. If you are not able to schedule an appointment that allows you to arrive in the United States before your program's start date, please schedule your appointment and then e-mail ResponseAmman@state.gov to request an expedited appointment. In this e-mail, please include your full name, passport number, date and time of appointment, and the reasons for requesting an expedited appointment.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION

Applicants for Student Visas should follow the general instructions for all non-immigrant applicants. Applicants must complete the application forms (DS-156, DS-157, DS-158), submit a valid passport and an appropriate color photo. The application fee of $100.00 or 71 Jordanian Dinar must be paid prior to the interview, and is non-refundable in all cases.

To Change an Appointment Date
Notify the Immigrant Visa Unit seven days prior to the scheduled date by fax (962-6-592-4102) or e-mail at ResponseAmman@state.gov.
Explain the circumstances surrounding your cancellation.
Provide approximate dates when you would like to reschedule.
Please Note:
Visa Interviews can only be scheduled for up to six weeks into the future.
Due to the volume of appointments, prefered dates cannot be guaranteed. You may wish to confirm appointment dates with Immigrant Visa Unit staff prior to making any arrangements to travel to the Embassy.
